Drakes Hotel starts off Tell Me Everything with a very strong tune entitled “Broadcast to the Addicted” — the sound coming across like the gorgeous but omitted tune from the Lost in Translation soundtrack. Lead singer Amy Drake shines throughout the album, especially on the Garbage-like “Red”, a tight radio-friendly nugget that never stalls. But “Some Will Say” takes a little longer than desired to warm up to, particularly with its murky, winding psychedelic feel. Fortunately the band redeems themselves with a thick slab of Jesus and Mary Chain-esque rock during “Wreck” and the equally hypnotic “Nullified”, which is probably the strongest song here. And that’s saying a hell of a lot. The homestretch contains other little jewels like the lighter, melodic “Songs I Forgot About” that resembles Luna as does the haunting “These Things.” Another slow-building gem is the soaring “Above The Voices”, a song that will have you hitting repeat time and again.
