The magnificent new single by Eliza Carthy and the Restitution raises high expectations for the full album Frenemies, dropping October 26th. The second-generation English folk star is also a genre buster who relishes pushing boundaries, doing exactly that with this song. With a stately rock beat, “Mr Sitting in the Dark” is also a wonderfully observed and lyrical tribute to her father, the songwriter, singer and guitarist Martin Carthy. The song blooms into a resplendent chorus that has all the makings of a concert sing-along.
