Evilsons are relaxed and laidback on the island-tinged, dubbed-accented pop of “Sneaky Men” that falls in the same category as bands like Maroon 5 and Jason Mraz. Other times the band opt for happy-go-lucky pop/ska punk favorites such as “Rain & Sunshine” and the feverish “Old Town”, the best of the three so far. Evilsons doesn’t stray far from this vibe with other numbers such as “Everlasting” and the slightly above-average “Let Us Down”. While some might be perplexed at the fact that this summer, California or Caribbean/Jamaican sound is coming from a band based in Finland, they deliver the goods for the toe-tapping and bass-driven “Ruff ‘N’ Tuff”. In terms of vocals, the singer Fredi eerily brings Incubus’ front man Brandon Boyd. Evilsons aren’t exactly a band to go gaga over, but with songs such as “Love For Music”, it would be hard to forget about this ska-leaning band... from the land of the reindeer.
