Forest Blakk - "Where I First Found You" (audio) (premiere)

Forest Blakk deftly blends folk and urban influences on this soulful and heartfelt ballad.

Singer-songwriter Forest Blakk has been making a name for himself with his own brand of "urban folk". His music is altogether serene and heartfelt, blending folk's natural knack for storytelling with sweeping, pop-accessible arrangements.

This much is evident in the release of his latest single, "Where I First Found You", where the artist weaves a raw tale of love in a way that can both break and mend hearts altogether. Graceful touches of piano, strings, and light instances of synths pervade the track, fulfilling the more city-minded aspect promised in his music alongside his soulful voices. For two musical movements that usually couldn't feel more removed from one another, Forest Blakk takes aspects from each and masterfully mixes them into his own poignant artistic identity.

On "Where I First Found You" Forest Blakk says, "'Where I First Found You' was my heart's attempt to answer one of love's greatest questions. Does there exist a love so deep, so passionate that it ceases to follow the rules of time itself? If that love does exist and we found ourselves at its center, would we too find ourselves free of the seconds that bind us? If this life were to end this very minute and the light of our love was to fade like a star, will we have loved with such conviction that in our next life we could once again find each other? I may not have an answer, but I hope 'Where I First Found You' serves as a lighthouse for all of our wandering hearts."
