Goldfrapp Offer Up a Dance Party at Brooklyn Steel

Goldfrapp turned Brooklyn Steel into a hot and sticky dance party for two nights.

Goldfrapp
City: New York
Venue: Brooklyn Steel
Date: 2017-04-26

Goldfrapp's newest album Silver Eye finds the duo once again delivering "strong melodic hooks". On tour in support of the album, Goldfrapp hit up New York City for a couple of shows, namely two nights at Brooklyn's newest venue, Brooklyn Steel.

While I had hoped to hear some of Goldfrapp's more folksy material (i.e. Seventh Tree), the band leaned heavily on the most danceable of their material for their set. That wasn't an issue though given the high caliber of their extensive catalog. They opened with the spacey classic "Utopia" and "Lovely Head" from Felt Mountain before jumping vigorously into "Anymore" off Silver Eye. From then on (till the encore) it was an onslaught of wonky dance beats and mind-scrambling melodies. Highlights included "Systemagic", "Become the One" and "Ooh La La" during the encore. Enjoy a few photos from the first Brooklyn Steel show and some video from the second night are below.
