Patience Please: Fleeting Frequencies

Seattle band Patience Please has very little patience when it concerns lengthy, expansive rock songs. These tunes are crisp, short, almost terribly curt but terribly sweet at the same time. It’s an album that runs just under 30 minutes but is an enjoyable power-pop romp with nuggets like “Blue Line” and the catchy “You’re it, I Quit” which brings to mind a slightly more textured Bishop Allen. Although the earnest delivery can be a bit much to take at times, the melodies and musicianship atones for this on “If You’re Sure” which could have been swiped from The Connells at some point. Grin-inducing moments are aplenty with the mid-tempo and yet sullen “Exclusively Windermere” that brings Soul Asylum to mind while “Science Credits” has an angular feeling a la They Might Be Giants.
