Worcestershire native Will “Quantic” Holland has done it again. Keeping his dependable Quantic Soul Orchestra in Columbia after the Latin based Tropidelico album, he set to work crafting another completely new project. The resulting work of Flowering Inferno sees Holland taking his usual role as chief multi-instrumentalist, this time for the creation of old school Trojan reggae and summer dub served over a bed of fuzzy hip-hop beats. With a little space echo and some Irie crooning, Death of the Revolution could easily pass for a lost Lee “Scratch” Perry production, and that’s no exaggeration. In the face of its shocking authenticity, this is the most surprising English made record since Jamie Lidell went from glitch to soul on a dime called Multiply. Start rolling your spliffs now.
