RIP Paul Nelson

We interrupt the regular music biz rants to note the passing of music journalist Paul Nelson, a noted former Rolling Stone critic who packed it in during the 90's to follow his muse and run a video store- his work ran the gamut from folkie reviews in Sing Out! (including Dylan's (in)famous Newport '65 show) to toasting punk rockers the Sex Pistols. If that wasn't enough, he worked A&R for Mercury Records in the '70's, signing the New York Dolls to the label (he later claimed that's what got him fired too). Luckily, the rockcritics.com website recently published a 2000 interview with him, looking back at his work.
