Starover Blue‘s Spacegeist is a cold album. This is a sentiment the band seems to be going for, hence the black-and-blue cover art and the “space” in the album’s name. The chilliness holds over to the music as well, though — the guitars are crystalline and static and the synthesizers are robotic, swiveling between hypnotic organ and futuristic drones. Spacegeist is definitely a product of having lived in Silicon Valley for eight years,” says Starover Blue. “It’s a dream pop concept album with lots of sci-fi imagery, harmonies, and nostalgic analog synth parts, and it looks at how different people and landscapes are affected by dependence on technology.”

Spacegeist is out August 26. Two weeks before its release, we’ve got a stream of the whole thing right here.
