As Tame Impala led off with “It Is Not Meant to Be”--the opening track from their debut full-length record Innerspeaker--in a very laid back tempo, it was clear the young, skinny, scrappy quartet of Aussies was in no hurry.
While Phantogram did catch the crowd's attention with fan-favorites like "Mouthful of Diamonds", "When I'm Small" and "As Far As I Can See", most of the show ended up being rather dragged out and uneventful.
Coming off their highly acclaimed debut LP, Gorilla Manor, Los Angeles' Local Natives jumped on stage to a sold out Bowery Ballroom last Thursday. After having played that album about 100 times now, I and the thousand or so other fans in the build were ready to scream our heads off.
Although Girl in a Coma's look lacks congruence with its name, musically it's far from inappropriate. Thus they were the perfect compliment to headliners The Wedding Present, Saturday at the Bowery Ballroom.
