Tenelle – “Set Me Free” (video) (premiere)

Soul/reggae singer Tenelle drapes her music in the warm Pacific Island climes on her latest single "Set Me Free".

Los Angeles’ Tenelle mixes reggae, soul, and tropical sounds in her upbeat, sunny music and her latest video “Set Me Free” proves what an alluring sound that is. Setting the video in the warm beach climes of Hawaii, Tenelle’s song lures one to want to play and love, not toil and work. It marks the promise of the coming summer and better days to come, plus it’s a wonderful love song. “The song tells a story about a girl in love for the first time and the reality of being locked by the love she is ‘…wishing on every star’ to be hers,” Tenelle says.

Growing up listening to Lauryn Hill, Betty Wright, and Joss Stone, Tenelle is indeed influenced by these artists, but her warm, optimistic music is also soaked in the waters of a Pacific Island landscape. Tenelle says that the video concept for Set Me Free” was “inspired by the hope of capturing real life people and real chemistry. With this and future visuals, my goal is to paint a picture for our viewers to relate and feel a part. In this video, you will find my baby sister, Tawnee Luafalemana alongside her teammates. All of the girls are huge supporters of my music, and I knew since I was in Hawaii supporting the volleyball athletes of the University of Utah, what better time than that particular day to capture our ‘day at the beach’.”
