The Casualties: Under Attack

New York punk outfit the Casualties returns with another hard-hitting, no-nonsense album that kicks off with the hellish title track. It sounds like the forerunner of hordes of screaming “emo” bands, with lead singer Jorge offering one guttural line after another. “Without Warning” is just as tight and frenetic, but slows down briefly in the middle. It’s one long, mosh pit-thumping party from start to finish, highlighted by “System Failed Us…Again”, the rambunctious “On City Streets”, and the punchy, Rancid-esque “World of Rumors”. Some of the tracks tend to repeat themselves, however, especially “Down & Out”. Nonetheless, if your idea of fun is losing your mind and bouncing off walls for 30 rousing minutes, bon appetit!
