The Color Wheels’ The Color Wheels gets off to a quick start. Singer-songwriter Jon Sebastian and his wife/drummer Psalm plough through the record’s opening tracks, giving you everything you could ever want from ’90s-inpsired power-pop: catchy choruses; cuddly, love-struck lyrics; pithy electric guitar solos. It’s enough to make you wonder why you never listen to your favorite Weezer album anymore. But then again, as the record wears on — one song blends into the next, nothing much changes, nothing much added to the mix — there’s every chance that you will remember why. It might just be that you’ve had your fill. And while The Color Wheels are a whole lot of fun, they also sound pretty darn familiar.
