The Giant Skyflower Band are the side project of Glenn Donaldson, founding member of psychedelic folksters the Skygreen Leopards. Blood of the Sunworm is their debut LP, a hazy marijuana-fuelled disc of gentle acoustic guitars, fuzzy bass and noodling sitars. It's soaked in nostalgia for the late '60s; the kind of thing it feels like you could have heard being playing by a couple of lonely hippies on a sun-drenched hilltop during the summer of love. It's loose -- more interested in creating a laid-back ambience than in producing catchy hooks, with a few instrumentals and plenty of droning sitar, but when the band does engage in a little more melody the results are usually worth it.
