Norway’s Darling West Convey Americana Sentiments on “Loneliness” (premiere)

The Nordic Americana band is at it again with an Americana number that captures the feeling of a yearning heartache.

Since the PopMatters debut of Darling West‘s “Traveller” last October, the Nordic Americana band has already made several great strides. Honing their sound and expanding their international audience, the roots collective are gearing up for their most anticipated release yet, their self-produced While I Was Asleep.

In the meantime, Darling West are keen on sharing their latest single, “Loneliness”. They’re still churning out the same kind of sound that they are loved for around the world. As per usual, the song features sweeping dobro, progressive banjo, lush, layered vocals, and now, a drum set. They convey a sense of longing in “Loneliness” that pervades the work, and the music video sells that idea of a yearning heartache to a moving degree. The tune’s swaying melody and the ever-present poodle in the video also tend to help carry proceedings along.

While I Was Asleep is set to release on Jansen on 16 February 2018.
